Back in 2010, Sonic Poetry produced this set of segues called Eats Darkness for the artrock group Apostle of Hustle. Typical of the times, the paranoia from the record label (“this, uh,  ‘music’ contains samples from common tv shows! o how we will get sued!”) resulted in this piece being pulled from the album. Attempts were made to contact some of the relevant poets whose work also appears, but being poets, it was difficult to get any responses. Plus aren’t poets just thrilled that someone other than their publisher is Actually LIstening? Regardless, Eats Darkness contains the seeds of its own strife: a miniature battle hymn to Ares, kindness of Burroughs, Brackage, Patchen, di Prima, Sweringen, H.D., and Paulie Walnuts.
