Filmmaker Russell Richardson notes: “The arabic script / Persian sufi quotation beneath the opening title is by Rumi and means (approximately) ‘We (humans) are shadows of Being cast by the light of a sun, which illuminates the Divine path’ and later in 3 subtitles, ‘The name of Allah, broken in flame, tears my heart’ (which I have always imagined as being the thoughts of a religious person—not necessarily exclusively a Moslem—looking on as the West demonizes Islam in general.”
